FAQs

What should I wear for my headshot?

In general, your headshot should look like you on your best day. Choose an outfit (or outfits) that you feel great in. Do you have a favorite top or dress that makes you feel unstoppable? Do you have a favorite color that makes you feel the most like yourself? Wear that! Don’t worry too much about fashion “dos” and “don’ts” - just wear something you love to wear!

I get really nervous in front of cameras! What should I do?

Don’t worry at all! I know how nerve-wracking headshots can be, especially if you’re not used to being in front of a camera. (Even I get nervous when the camera is turned on me!) The good news is: you’re in good hands. I have spent a lot of time studying how to pose subjects and get really natural, easy portraits. You don’t have to be good at posing – that’s my job! 🙂

Do I get to choose which pictures I get?

You sure do! After we finish your shoot, I’ll go through and get rid of any that are obviously bad (blinking, crazy faces, out of focus, etc.), and then I’ll upload all of the possible contenders to your own personal gallery. From there, you can look through everything and decide which ones you want to keep!

Where do you shoot?

Most of the time, I work out of an incredible studio located in Cottonwood Heights, UT called Photopia Studios. It has three huge bays with a wide variety of different backgrounds, and an equally wide variety of furniture and props to play with. It’s super versatile, and can be tailored to fit almost any style! To check out some of the backdrops, you can visit their website here.

For natural light outdoor shoots, I have a couple of favorite locations that I love. For more city/urban backgrounds, I use the new courthouse in downtown SLC. You can see an example of this here. I also love shooting in the Cottonwood Canyons, which you can see here!

That being said, I am always open to my clients’ suggestions! If you have a location you’re dreaming of, we may very well be able to make that work!

How long will it take to get my pictures back?

I will have your “preview gallery” (all of the unedited photos for you to choose from) within 48 hours of your photoshoot. Once you have chosen your favorites for me to edit, I will have your final gallery ready for download in 2 weeks or less!
